Chewing gum will help you in getting rid of bad breath before Christmas and all the other holiday season parties. But does it tackle the real cause of bad breath?
If there is one thing that many of us do not
want to have, aside from any of the more serious maladies that we could end up
with, it is a smelly breath. It is not harmful to us although it does have some
social implications that are difficult to overcome if we are dealing with it on
a regular basis. Most people will forgive you for having smelly breath on
occasion but if you constantly have it, very few of them will want to have
conversations with you as a result.
What is the one thing that most people do for
getting rid of bad breath? Actually, it's chewing gum and you might be
surprised to find out that this is an effective way to deal with the problem.
Chewing gum is not only going to cover over the halitosis because of the scent
of the gum, it is also going to help to clean your teeth if you are chewing the
proper type. As long as you aren't chewing a sugary type of gum, you may be
getting rid of bad breath to a certain extent.
Now that I got that out of the way, I would
like to point out a couple of dangers of chewing sugar-free gum on a regular
basis in order to overcome halitosis. First of all, the cause of bad breath is
usually a disease. If you are doing something in order to cover over your
halitosis regularly, you are doing little to help with the underlying problem.
These problems can range anywhere from poor oral hygiene to kidney failure.
Don't ignore the fact that your breath smells bad, especially if it is very
persistent. Getting rid of bad breath by tackling the underlying illness is the
way to go.
Another problem that may come from chewing
sugar-free gum regularly is that you are actually poisoning your body through
aspartame or other unnatural sweeteners. Although many people will tell you
that there is nothing wrong with this, there are far too many people that have
severe reactions to aspartame to ignore. Instead of chewing gum, you might want
to consider chewing a variety of different herbs on a regular basis. They may
not give you the same effect as far as the feel of gum, and they will not take
care of the cause of bad breath, but they certainly taste great and they can
help to overcome your halitosis until you're able to cure the problem that is
causing it.
Chewing gum is little more than a quick fix
solution for getting rid of bad breath
